About
Function First Therapy
The mission of Function First Therapy is to help you and your child achieve the goals you set. I value a family centered approach that puts your child at the center. Applying the principles set out by Dr. Rosenbaum and Dr. Gorter, Function First Therapy focuses on the six F-words of child development: functioning, family, fitness, fun, friends, and future.
Functioning: refers to what people do- how things are done is not what is important
Family: represents the essential 'environment' of all children and youth
Fitness: refers to physical and mental well-being
Fun: includes activities that people enjoy
Friends: refers to the friendships established with others
Future: is what life is all about

Meet the Owner: Jordan Poore
I graduated from Maryville University in 2018 with my Master's in Occupational Therapy. Since graduation, I have spent five years working and gaining knowledge in a variety of settings. I have experience working in schools (ages 3 to 21), early intervention (birth to 3), and outpatient pediatrics (birth to 21). My experience in early intervention gives me a unique perspective on the benefit and practicality of providing in home therapy within a child's natural environment.
I have worked with a variety of diagnoses and populations including, but not limited to, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Batten's Disease, Spina Bifida, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), low vision and blindness, sensory processing disorders, developmental delay, learning disabilities, and cognitive disabilities.
In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my husband and cavapoo. We enjoy walking in the park, eating at new restaurants, going to the movies, and traveling to new places. I am currently in the process of getting my cavapoo, Ellie, trained as a therapy dog.
